What Does Your Committee Do?  

The Science Fair Committee works with the administrative staff to plan the logistics of the Science Fair;  Works with the teachers and others to promote the Science Fair to students, parents and others in the Oak Knoll community – such as creating material for marketing the Science Fair;  Helps with organizing participants via a database and web site; Organizes volunteers to assist with the students and their projects the night of the fair.

Types of Responsibilities We Need Help With – including time involved and number of people

      1.   People to be “Science Coaches” to a few kids on the night of the Science Fair. Time = this involves about 2  hours total. Number people needed = 20.

2.   People that will take photos the night of the Science Fair to share on a Shutterfly-type web-site afterwards. Time =  2 hours one night. Number people needed = 3.

3.   Person to videotape the kids and their projects (not each one!) the night of the Science Fair.  Time = 1.5 hours.  Number people needed = 1-2.

4.   People to help set-up the Science Fair (put up tables, chairs, microphone system, etc.). Time = 1 hour the day before Science Fair (afternoon).  People needed = 4.

5.   People to tear-down after the Science Fair (that night). Time = about 1 hour (or less). People needed = 5.

6.   Four people each interested in a two-year commitment to run the Oak Knoll Science Fair.  Roles: 1) Project Manager – Committee Head  2) Marketing Communications 3) Database and Web Site Management 4) Science Coach Management


When do you need volunteers? 

The Science Fair will be held on March 30th and March 31st.
